Dirty, flirty, and thriving
Thru-hiking isn’t pretty. It’s nitty, gritty, and so very dirty, dusty, and everything in between. The tan you think you’ve built up over days trekking through the desert washes off in rivulets in the shower and the dry heat hairspray of sweat and sand rinses out in a matter of seconds in a low pressure shower.
You need to get creative. You find ways to get clean amidst the dirt and get rad against the hard. It’s tough, it’s awesome, and it’s so unbelievably wild. Wild to be out here. Wild to be living this life. Wild to be here with these humans doing these things.
Pre-wash cold soaks in RV laundromat sinks become a way of life coupled with realizing you forgot to add detergent to your last load. We’re out here, dirty, wandering, and living. It’s a special kind of tough and I’m here for it.
